If Christmas is coming, then Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Wait. What? Wasn’t it summer just a few weeks ago? How can it be time to begin Christmas shopping? But each time I step into a store, I am reminded that Christmas truly is just around the corner. That means we are almost on top of Thanksgiving.
Spring is my favorite season, followed by Summer. Autumn and Winter are at the bottom of my list. I seriously dislike snow, ice, and frigid cold. It would be great if I could slow the passage of time during the warmer months and speed it up during the cold months. But I can’t. So this year, I have asked God to please help me to find joy during the cold of Winter. I am surprised how quickly I am falling into the coming season. My bah-humbug attitude concerning that four-letter word, SNOW, is being replaced with an inner warmth and anticipation. Christmas is coming! Oh, I’m not excited about the shopping and crowds, the cooking and baking, or the possibility of snowstorms or blizzards. No, my excitement is grounded in celebrating the birth of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this”. Isaiah 9:6-7
During this season, our Christmas focus is on the birth of baby Jesus. The Words in Isaiah, however, do not focus on the baby boy born. But rather, the risen King who will return again. “The government will be on his shoulders.” “He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” “Of the greatness of His government and peace there will be no end.” He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever.” “The zeal of the LORD (Yahweh) Almighty will accomplish this.” Isaiah’s prophecy speaks of a time yet to come. Jesus will come again, and we, his followers, will be with him! How glorious! My Christmas excitement and anticipation begin and end in this incredible fact. My Lord and Savior will come again! And we who have asked Jesus to be our Savior will be with Him. We will be in His Glorious presence for Eternity. But wait! Something vital must happen before Jesus comes back again. That’s where Thanksgiving comes in. The Rapture must happen! Before Jesus comes back to earth again, He will come in the clouds and gather His Bride to Him. We do not know the day or the hour; it could even be while you read this. Wouldn’t that be incredible!
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”
Anyone who knows me well knows how I feel concerning Bible Prophecy. Some understand, some don’t. God did not give us His prophetic Word to scare us but to prepare us. My hope lies in God’s Prophetic Word. And I hope that your does as well. God placed an urgency in my heart to study His Prophetic Word and share it. And that is precisely what I am doing and will continue to do as long as He leads me. (Just a heads-up for future articles.) The days and weeks are speeding past, and Christmas will be here before we know it. I pray that we all will take time to celebrate the birth of baby Jesus and the true meaning behind His birth. Yes, Jesus was born to ultimately die on the cross to save us from our sins and to rise again. But the story, as glorious as it is, does not end there. The day will come, soon and very soon, when we, all believers in Christ, will meet Jesus in the air! The dead in Christ will rise first, and then we who are alive will follow. I can’t wait!!!! I pray that our hearts will be filled with renewed excitement at the thought of His imminent return. “Emmanuel, (Emmanuel, Emmanuel), Emmanuel. Emmanuel, (Emmanuel, Emmanuel), Emmanuel. Wonderful, Counselor! Lord of life, Lord of all; He is the Prince of Peace, Mighty God, Holy One! Emmanuel, Emmanuel, Emmanuel…” Remember, just as signs point to the coming of Christmas, signs all around point to Christ’s second coming. But, also remember that just as Thanksgiving comes before Christmas, the Rapture happens before the Second Coming. And Jesus said that it will be in the twinkling of an eye. Hallelujah and Praise the Lord! Hu Yavo (Hebrew - He will come) Sandy Wells Please take a moment to enjoy Michael W Smith singing "Emmanuel".
